At Crindle Stables, we believe horse riding should be inclusive, accessible, and most of all — fun! This Halloween, join us for one of our special seasonal activities:

  • Halloween Adventure Ride – Ideal for beginners, first-timers, or anyone with additional needs. Enjoy pony brushing, mini rides, Halloween-themed games, or a peaceful autumn trek. Fully inclusive for children and families with physical disabilities, autism, or other special needs.

  • Halloween Pony Pals – A relaxed, hands-on introduction to the farm, ponies, and pony riding, with fun Halloween-themed surprises. Perfect for young children, families, and those new to ponies. Autism-friendly and designed to be calm, safe, and confidence-building.

  • Beginner Riding Lessons – The perfect way to start your horse riding journey! Our supportive instructors provide calm, confidence-building lessons tailored to each rider. Learn the basics of stopping, steering, and trotting in a safe, fun environment. These lessons are ideal for families visiting Derry who want a gentle, beginner-friendly introduction to horse riding.

  • Day at the Stables (6yrs+) – An ideal experience for children aged 6 and above. Get hands-on with pony care, fun games, and a riding lesson, for all levels. Perfect for building skills, confidence, and having a fun-filled day at the stables.

  • Sensory Session – Part of our autism-friendly B.R.I.D.L.E. programme, these sessions combine horseback games, obstacle courses, and gentle trails for a therapeutic and inclusive experience.

  • Beach Ride (12yrs+) – The ultimate Northern Irish experience! Begin with a skill-building session at Crindle, then head to Benone Beach for a 1-hour scenic ride finishing at Downhill Beach. This ride is suitable for ages 12 and above. Younger riders may be able to join if they attend an assessment session and are confident cantering.

Beach Ride

Date: Saturday 1st November

If you’re looking for something truly unforgettable this Halloween, our Beach Ride is it. Starting at Crindle Stables, you’ll first enjoy a friendly assessment session where we help you feel comfortable with stopping, steering, and, if you’d like, trying out a trot or canter.

Then, we’ll all travel together (a short 15-minute drive) to the spectacular Northern Irish coastline. Here, you’ll ride along Benone Beach, stretching for miles with breathtaking ocean views, before finishing on the world-famous Downhill Beach — one of the most scenic spots in Ireland.

This ride is open to ages 12 and above, but younger riders who are confident cantering can also join after an assessment at the stables. Beginners can enjoy a calm walk along the sand, while more experienced riders have the option to pick up the pace. Whatever your level, we make sure it’s relaxed, safe, and full of fun.

Halloween Adventure Ride

Dates: Tuesday 28th & Friday 31st October

Our classic family favourite adventure ride, with a dash of Halloween fun! Riders can enjoy the stunning scenery while joining in with festive, family-friendly games and activities. It’s the same adventure everyone loves — just with a seasonal sparkle.

This one-hour session is packed with variety:

  • Meet your pony and get to know them

  • A gentle, beginner-friendly mini riding lesson to learn the basics

  • Fun Halloween-themed horseback games in the arena

  • A short autumn trail ride (weather dependent)

  • Finish by brushing your pony to say thank you 💕

 

Whether you’re brand new to horses or have ridden before, our friendly team makes sure everyone feels welcome and supported — children and adults alike, including those who are autism-friendly or have additional needs.

Pony pals on the farm

Our Pony Pals session is a toddler-friendly farm adventure, just minutes from Coleraine, Portrush & Derry/Londonderry!

 

🐴 Meet & Feed the Animals – Get up close with our gentle ponies, friendly horses, fluffy sheep, and playful goats.

👩‍🌾 Hands-On Farm Fun – Little farmers can brush ponies, tidy the stables, and hop into a fun wheelbarrow ride to visit ponies in their paddock.

🌟 A Special Pony Moment – Enjoy grooming, leading, and a short, safe pony walk—perfect for building confidence!

Beginner Riding Lessons

Wednesday & Friday - 5pm & Saturday - 12pm & 3pm

Our Beginner Riding Lessons are the perfect way to start your horse riding journey — or to refresh your skills if you’re getting back in the saddle. Suitable for all ages and abilities, these 30-minute lessons focus on building confidence and learning the essentials: steering, stopping, and trotting.

Led by our experienced and friendly instructors, each session is designed to be calm, enjoyable, and tailored to the rider. For young children, we have special inky dinky saddles (ideal for under-4s), and for those who need extra support, we provide assistive saddles to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable.

With weekly sessions and varied activities, riders gradually build their confidence, skills, and connection with our gentle horses and ponies. It’s a brilliant way for children and adults alike to experience the joy of horse riding in a fun and inclusive setting.

B.R.I.D.L.E – Bringing Riding Into Disabled Lives Equally runs every Saturday morning for our Autism-Friendly Sensory Horse Riding Sessions, designed for children and adults.

Our mission is to make the joy of horse riding accessible to everyone. Each week offers a new adventure, from engaging horseback games and exciting obstacle courses to peaceful scenic trails. Come and experience the fun, therapeutic benefits, and the sheer delight of riding in a supportive and inclusive environment.

These sessions aren’t just for individuals; they’re perfect for the whole family to get involved.

Took my 7 year old & 3 year old for the todder/kid session and it was a fantastic experience! I was worried my kids would be nervous as they’ve never been horseriding before but the ponies were so calm the kids jumped straight on and had a ball! Lovely staff and arena.
