Horse Riding on the Beach in Northern Ireland

Discover the beauty of Northern Ireland’s coastline with our beach horse riding experience! Enjoy a leisurely ride or a gentle canter along the shores, taking in the stunning scenery from Benone to Downhill Beach. As you explore, marvel at iconic landmarks like the Game of Thrones filming locations and the majestic Mussenden Temple. Our group rides cater to people of all ages and abilities, providing a unique opportunity to experience the breathtaking Donegal coastline from horseback.

Minimum Age Requirement: The minimum age for participating in our group beach rides is 12 years old.

Explore Ireland’s coast with our 2.5-hour Beach Trek, a unique experience of horse riding on the beach.

Riding abilities: This mixed ability ride can include riders of beginner, novice, intermediate and advanced abilities

When: Every Friday evening in July & August

Start time: 5:30pm at Crindle Stables

Duration: 2.5hrs approx which includes:

Get to know your horse at Crindle Stables with an assessment session practising stop, steer, trot / a canter (depending on riding ability)
Riders MUST follow in their own cars behind the Crindle horse boxes to the beach by car – approx 15mins drive
Begin riding on the Benone Beach and finish on famous Downhill beach – the beach ride itself is approximately 1 hour.

Riders cars can be dropped off at Benone beach (starting point) and picked up at Downhill beach (finish point). OR Cars can be dropped in the car park area of Benone beach (start point), riders will be dropped back to their cars at the end of the ride.

Canice and I took our 2 boys to Crindle stables this afternoon for a surprise birthday experience. Hazel, Trevor, Amy, Adam and their amazing team made the experience fantastic. Our boys can’t stop talking about the wonderful horse’s. Very professional service we are already talking about our next visit!

Best day for our kids!!

Both our boys (age 2+3) had the best time. Thanks to the staff for their patience and for making sure both kids had a fun time riding and brushing the horses. They haven’t stopped asking us to go back!

Took my two granddaughters..Ella and Katie to Crindle Stables for a Christmas treat….they had an hour of fun… Amy and Hannah are just the loveliest of girls so friendly and great with the wee ones.They will definitely be back again. This is one of the most friendly stables I have been too. Its relaxed , friendly, homely and so welcoming . we had a mini lesson before a trek and after there was no rush to get us away , we were allowed to groom the horses , see the other horses and ponies in the stables and spend as much time as we needed . The staff are so attentive, patient, non judgemental and know when to laugh with you and not at you … all in all we had a magical time and would highly recommend it …
